The Good Newsletter was created on Tuesday, March 17, 2020 in the early stages of the coronavirus lockdown in the United States. With the constant borage of scary and sad news and the general state of uncertainty that resulted from the pandemic, the need for good news became more urgent than ever. Publishing original newsletters every weekday with content submitted by the community of subscribers, The Good Newsletter began to take on a life of its own as not only a news publication but a platform for good, raising almost $9,000 for various charitable organizations from the months of April - October of 2020.
In its current state, the newsletter is published on the first Tuesday of every month. Each newsletter is centered around a theme and encourages readers to take meaningful action to contribute to and cultivate a good and just world while living a fulfilling life.
The Good Newsletter is curated, written, and edited by Allie Blum. Allie is a Denver-based writer via New Orleans and Philadelphia (specifically Conshohocken, PA). Her works of non-fiction, fiction, and poetry have been published in various online literary magazines and blogs. Professionally, she writes communications and marketing emails and aspires to one day go to journalism school. Allie is a fraternal twin and the mother of a beautiful Great Pyrenees mix named Mochi.
